Emily Adams

Emily has served as the Executive Director since March 2016. She provides oversight and leadership to the organization while working closely with the Board of Directors. Emily advocates for PA practice rights as a lobbyist and represents NCAPA and the PA profession throughout the state, as she is committed to ensuring that North Carolina is the best place to be a PA. She lives outside of Chapel Hill with her husband, Josh, and two children, Callum and Elsie. She tries to get outside whenever possible to enjoy all the natural beauty NC has to offer.

 

 

 

Kerstin Becker

Kerstin started working at NCAPA in October of 2016 and provides support to the Director of Conferences and CME by assisting with the ongoing management and support of NCAPA’s educational content, including online learning and in-person conferences and workshops. She was born in Germany, raised in Rhode Island, and studied at the University of New Hampshire. Following college, she spent two years serving in AmeriCorps NCCC with non-profits in Colorado and the surrounding states. She moved to North Carolina in 2016 and currently lives in Chapel Hill.

 

 

 

Carin Head

Carin began working at NCAPA in October of 2010 and directs all continuing education offerings from NCAPA, including two annual conferences, regional workshops, and online CME. She was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio and moved to North Carolina in 2009. She currently lives in Raleigh with her husband and three children.

 

 

 

 

 

Shanna Newell

Shanna began working at NCAPA in March of 2018 and is responsible for member recruitment and renewals, Student Affairs and member support. Shanna joins us after serving 14 years with Habitat for Humanity of Wake County.  Her roles at Habitat included volunteer management, event planning and project management. She is excited for the opportunity to pair her nonprofit skills and experience with a health-focused mission.

 

 

 

 

Kat Nicholas

Kat began working at NCAPA in January of 2014 and is responsible for marketing and communications as well as providing oversight to all membership activities. She was born in Raleigh and has lived in North Carolina for all but six months of her life, when she tried the west coast. (It didn’t take.) Kat studied Design as well as Philosophy in college, leading to a professional life working in non-profits and personal life filled with textiles and color. She currently lives in Chatham County with her husband, two sons, and an adorable terrier named Esme.

Sally began working at NCAPA in October of 2014 and is responsible for all things related to finance, budgets, and the bottom line. She originally hails from Illinois but lived in Maine for many years and will forever consider herself a Mainer. Sally is a former basketball coach and a committed, life-time, basketball aficionado. She has raised two children, who have been successfully launched into the world. Sally currently lives in Chapel Hill with her husband and her dog named Buddy.

 

 

 

 

Alexis Perry

Alexis began working at NCAPA in March 2018 and provides general administrative support including board meeting preparations and ECC scheduling. Alexis is a 2016 NC State graduate with a B.S. in Nutrition Science and minor in Psychology. While at NC State, Alexis was the captain of the NC State Women’s Track & Field team and became an All-American track and field athlete.  She also competed at the 2016 Olympic Trials in the 100 meter hurdles and the long jump. After graduation, Alexis worked as an office assistant at the NCSU track and field office and competed professionally as a track and field athlete in U.S and international meets.
