NCAPA supports reforms to STEP Therapy
Please contact your Senators to urge them to take action on step therapy reform. Step therapy is a health insurance practice which forces patients to try and fail on medications other than what their health care provider prescribes – in some cases even when patients have already tried the insurer-preferred medications or when those medications could cause their health to deteriorate. Also known as “fail first,” step therapy often applies to patients living with life-threatening or debilitating conditions such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, arthritis and more.
The House has already passed HB 450 which establishes a regulatory framework for step therapy protocols, intending to increase transparency and improve the step therapy process for North Carolinians. We now need the Senate to take action. You can send a letter directly to your Senator by completing the form below. Please make sure to use a physical address, so you are matched with the correct Senator.
