SUMMARY:2014 VATS Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The trend in Thoracic Surgery continues to move toward less invasive procedures for both simple and complex conditions. Video Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS) will enable surgeons to move aggressively to adopt minimally invasive surgical approaches for traditional open procedures. These techniques significantly reduce postoperative pain\, hospital stay and patient morbidity. This workshop will provide participants the opportunity to understand the VATS approach through didactic sessions\, video review and hands-on experience with a novel simulator model. The training seminar will be kept small to allow close interaction with the faculty.\nAudience\nBoard-certified thoracic surgeons\, thoracic resident and fellows\, allied health professionals – special session for first assistants.
