DESCRIPTION:Registration is required to attend. Registrations enable NCAPA to schedule meetings with your legislator. NCAPA Members can register through the emailed invitation link. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOn Wednesday\, March 19th\, join your colleagues from across the state to advocate for PAs and your patients. Practicing PAs and PA students will don their white coats and meet with legislators in Raleigh to champion laws to enhance the PA profession in North Carolina. \n\n\n\nLast year’s advocacy day had the largest attendance to date\, with 150+ practicing PAs and PA students traveling to the North Carolina General Assembly. This year\, we are excited to continue this momentum together.

DESCRIPTION:The NCAPA Finance Committee oversees the Academy’s finances. The committee understands that financial statements\, budgets\, and accounting can be intimidating to many PAs and assists its members to become more comfortable in these areas. The committee serves in an internal audit capacity and provides oversight to the annual budgetary income and expenses\, the Building Maintenance Fund\, the Strategic Projects Fund\, and the Reserve Fund. The committee works closely with the NCAPA Treasurer and the Executive Director and administrative staff to ensure that resources are utilized in a manner consistent with the strategic plan. \n\n\n\nCommittee service provides members with opportunities to connect with their peers across the state\, provide meaningful contributions to the profession\, and gain valuable leadership experience. Committees gather information\, study issues\, reach consensus\, and make recommendations to the Board of Directors. Active committee involvement from members like you makes NCAPA a successful organization.

DESCRIPTION:The NCAPA Government Affairs Committee works to assure that North Carolina has a practice environment beneficial to PAs and remains one of the best states to practice. The committee reviews and makes recommendations on issues related to statutes\, regulatory\, and reimbursement as they affect PAs and the profession in North Carolina. \n\n\n\nEach year\, the committee creates a Legislative Agenda and plans and coordinates the Annual PA Day at the NC Legislature. The committee also currently has a subcommittee focused on Behavioral Health and includes professional liaisons to the NC Medical Board Review Panel and the Emergency Medical Services Advisory Group. \n\n\n\nREGULATORY SUBCOMMITTEE – Monitor and provide feedback to NC Medical Board policy statements\, proposed rules\, and other issues. Attend at least one of the virtual APPAH Committee and Policy Committee meetings. Be prepared to provide testimony at NCMB meetings as needed. Meeting frequency is every other month prior to NCMB meetings and as needed.

SUMMARY:NCAPA Joint Injections Workshop
DESCRIPTION:SPOTS ARE GOING FAST! Register before January 20\, 2025.  \n\n\n\nThis skills-based injections workshop is designed for a broad range of practitioners who would like to develop or improve joint and soft tissue injection skills. The didactic portion will cover indications\, contraindications\, side effects\, materials used\, and techniques of common musculoskeletal injections.  \n\n\n\nThis hands-on skills lab portion will allow attendees to identify anatomical landmarks and practice various musculoskeletal injections on shoulders\, knees\, thighs\, elbows\, with guidance and feedback from the workshop facilitators.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nObjectives include:  \n\n\n\n\nExplain how the ability of primary care providers to administer routine musculoskeletal injections impacts health disparities by reducing the necessity for referrals to orthopedic specialists. \n\n\n\nIdentify the indications for musculoskeletal corticosteroid injections. \n\n\n\nRecognize contraindications and potential side effects of musculoskeletal corticosteroid injections. \n\n\n\nDescribe the materials required and various medication combinations used for specific musculoskeletal conditions. \n\n\n\nIdentify anatomical landmarks used to give musculoskeletal corticosteroid injections. \n\n\n\nDemonstrate proper technique of musculoskeletal injections on part task trainers.
