I appreciate your consideration for me as an AAPA House of Delegates NC representative for the term of 2024-2025. I have had the opportunity to serve as an NC delegate for the past 10 years (2014-2023) as well as served as an alternate delegate in 2011. I had the honor of serving as President of NCAPA in 2020 and have stayed active since that time with involvement in committees. I understand issues that impact PA practice not only in NC but also nationally. I bring a unique perspective to the table as I work as a PA administrator, teach as an adjunct faculty member and I continue to practice clinically as a PA in Neuro-Oncology. I feel that I have served the NC constituents well with my strong knowledge base about PA regulatory, state, and national concerns. My passion is for PAs to have a seat and a voice at the table and practice to their full scope and education. I am willing to stand up on the House of Delegates floor and advocate for PAs in North Carolina. I have gained the respect of other national PA leaders. I feel this is a strength for ensuring collaboration among other constituent organizations to ensure that any decisions made by the AAPA House of Delegates positively impact PAs in NC. As a seasoned leader, I also feel a strong responsibility to mentor and learn from early and mid-career PAs. I look forward to more PAs finding the passion for leadership and advocacy that I have known in my career. If elected I will be open to your opinions and suggestions and look forward to working with and serving you!
I am a career-long member of both NCAPA and AAPA and fully recognize the importance of both organizations in supporting my career in many ways over the past 22 years. I have worked clinically in adult hematology-oncology for many years, and now work part-time in a primary care clinic serving patients with substance use disorders. I am employed full-time as a PA educator at the Duke PA Program, guiding the next generation of PAs on their journey.
Over time, I have come to realize the importance of PAs advocating for the profession and having a voice in legislative issues that affect our ability to practice. It is equally important for PAs to stay abreast of state and national dialogues that influence policy decisions that will shape the future of our profession. The past several years have witnessed many high-level public debates about issues that are important to all PAs, and many of my students have asked questions to help them decipher this changing landscape. This is an exciting time to be a PA, as many positive changes are on the horizon, and many more are being actively discussed.
I have been engaged as an active member of NCAPA, serving on the Board of Directors as an at-Large member for 4 years, and completing 2 years as Vice President in December 2020. I have been a member of the Government Affairs Committee and make the commitment to attend PA Day at the General Assembly to advocate for our profession locally. I have visited Capitol Hill and helped host state legislators at the Duke PA Program. My clinical and educational roles allow me to interface with all 4 of the major PA organizations, and I believe this allows me to have a broad perspective when considering issues related to our profession. I have been a HOD representative since 2020, participating in important votes for our profession.
I am requesting your support to serve a third term as an AAPA House of Delegates representative so that I can continue to be plugged into issues on the national level that will impact PAs in North Carolina. Together with the other NCAPA Delegates, I would be honored to represent YOU in the decision-making body of our national PA organization. Thank you for your consideration.
I have been in clinical practice for 18 years in different capacities. I’ve worked in inpatient settings at The Cleveland Clinic and WakeMed Hospitals. I’ve had over 10 years of outpatient experience between Urgent Care, Primary Care, Pre-op Anesthesia, and most recently Campus Health. During my time as an outpatient provider, I’ve also had the opportunity to own and operate my own practice.
I transitioned to higher education on a full-time basis in 2020. Prior to that time, I was a clinical teacher for many years. My academic role has allowed me to focus more on legislation, advocacy, mentorship, and scholarship at various levels with both regional CE presentations and a national grant award.
I’ve served the NCAPA as a subcommittee chair and DEI committee co-chair. I participated in the development of the most recent strategic plan, and I’ve delivered talks to the Board of Directors around Professional Development. I am passionate about policy and would like the opportunity to represent the state of North Carolina at the national level. I believe that advocacy and policy are important, and I hope to contribute to the future of the PA profession in this capacity.
I would be honored to represent your interests as one of the Representatives for the House of Delegates. I am passionate about the PA profession and will stay committed to our future growth and forward progress.
Thank you for your consideration to allow me to represent NCAPA as delegate to the AAPA House of Delegates.
I have had the privilege to serve many years in the AAPA House of Delegates and have vast experience in policy development and in understanding the implications of policy decisions. I am adept at understanding the nuances of policy statements and the effects those policies may have on the PA profession as well as external stakeholders. Over the past many years, I have served in many leadership roles, both in NCAPA as well as AAPA. I served as President of NCAPA in 1995 and 2007 and President of AAPA during the 2015-2016 leadership year. Over the years, I have served on multiple committees and task forces related to policies and procedures as they effect the state and national academy as well as formulating policies as they relate to external organizations both on the state and national level. Most notably, I chaired the Governance Task Force that reorganized the AAPA governance structure in 2009 and chaired the Full Practice Authority Task Force which led to the adoption of Optimal Team Practice by the AAPA House of Delegates in 2017. For the past two years I have served as Chief Delegate to the AAPA House of Delegates for North Carolina. I have been a “policy geek” for many years and enjoy crafting, modifying, and discussing policies, regulations, and legislation.
I would like to continue my involvement with NCAPA serving as a delegate to the AAPA House of Delegates. I understand the roles and responsibilities of a delegate, and, if selected, I am committed to fulfilling the role to the best of my ability.
Thank you for your support.
I will soon complete my first two-year term as a Delegate in the AAPA House of Delegates. It is my intent to continue representing the PAs of North Carolina in this capacity for another term.
During my first two years as Delegate, I gained experience I feel can only be optimally applied during the course of a subsequent term. I have increased the breadth and depth of my leadership skills through continued membership on the Government Affairs and Political Action Committees and taking on new responsibilities as Treasurer of NCAPA. During this time of increased involvement, my knowledge of complex PA issues has grown, allowing me to hone my opinions.
I support team-based practice as the most effective and safest method for providing medical care. I believe in the sanctity of the patient-provider relationship and protection of this relationship should be the prerequisite of any change to medical regulations. I am for evidence-based harm reduction strategies in medicine. I think that diversity and representation at every level of our profession impacts the quality, accessibility, and equity of healthcare. As leaders we should be explicitly seeking this diversity in our classrooms, exam rooms, and board rooms.
As our leaders debate these issues, I would be honored to continue bringing the opinions and concerns of NC PAs to the attention of the AAPA. I hope I can count on your support as I continue to serve my state and my profession.

I am asking you to vote for me to represent you and our great state academy at the next AAPA House of Delegates. I bring with me many years of professional service beginning while in PA school at Wake Forest until now, while working at Duke University. I have served as your representative in the House of Delegates for several years including as the NCAPA Chief Delegate.
During my time as a Delegate for NC, I have been present for many of the recent robust debates about the direction of the PA profession and have helped shaped much of the policy that we currently enjoy. I have voted in favor of modernizing our PA practice and will continue to do so with the intention of keeping our profession safe from threats, while also moving us in a positive direction. I want a future in which we are respected and maintain equality with other medical professionals. It is important to respect our history while also ensuring a stable future.
I have also served in many leadership roles, including President of the NCAPA. I am currently the chair of the Continuing Education Committee, which is responsible for our great state conferences. Because of my experience serving in these multiple capacities, and because I have been an active member of the NC delegation, I feel that I am qualified to continue to represent you and our profession as a Delegate to the next series of AAPA House of Delegate meetings. I pledge, as always, to do my best and represent NC with honor and dignity.
I am asking for your support to represent NCAPA as a delegate to the AAPA House of Delegates (HOD). In addition to my 40 years of experience as a PA in family medicine and a PA educator, I love our profession and being a PA. My passion is serving the NCAPA in the HOD as I love working on policy and want to offer my service to help shape the policies that are vital for our profession and our patients.
I believe I have the leadership skills necessary for this job, I have served NC in many roles including NCAPA President, director on NC Professionals Health Program Board and compliance committee, member of the NC Medical Board PA Advisory Committee, and editorial board member of the NC Medical Society Journal. I helped develop the NC PA practice regulations and PA peer review legislation. Locally, I chaired the Department of PA Studies at the Wake Forest School of Medicine, mentoring and training new PAs through teaching and facilitating educational and leadership experiences.
Nationally, I am a past Speaker of the House of Delegates and a Past President of the AAPA. I believe I bring a needed understanding of the relationship between the AAPA Board of Directors and the HOD, and a depth of experience in policy development and parliamentary procedure. It is important to not only know what policies are needed to move our profession forward but also how to craft a policy that can be used to discuss PA practice barriers with legislators, health care executives, and others with influence on our profession.
I believe my experience has strengthened my ability to work with and for PAs and the NCAPA. I am a consensus builder and will stand up for what is right for our profession. Most importantly, I believe in NC being a leading state for PA practice and will work hard for you and our state. I think I can be a good representative for you to the AAPA House of Delegates. If you agree, I ask for your vote. I thank you for your consideration.
I would like to be considered for a delegate position for the July 2023 through June 2025 AAPA House of Delegates.
My PA leadership skills date back to 1980 when I first became involved in the NCAPA. Since that time I have held many elected positions, including NCAPA President in 1984, 1993, and 2015. I have also served on many committees and have held chair positions for the Health and Government Affairs committees. My main interest has always been Government Affairs, which includes representation for PAs through legislation, regulation and reimbursement. On our statewide efforts towards Optimal Team Practice I have served on NCAPA’s OTP Taskforce since its inception as well as the NC Medical Society Task Force. In addition, I serve as the Academy’s representative to the NC Medical Board Review Panel since its inception and have been Chair for the past four years. On the national level I am a Distinguished Fellow of the AAPA. I have been a member of the AAPA’s Advocacy Commission and for four years, served on the House’s Standing Rules Committee including Chair and two years serving on the Judicial Affairs Committee. I am very well versed in the policy of the House through my role in the House Standing Rules committee as I oversaw an extensive review of all the HOD’s policy.
I feel despite my many years of leadership and years of participation as a delegate, I can still add a fresh voice to the AAPA HOD. I have stayed current on issues that affect our profession locally, state wide and nationally. I continue to monitor issues that affect our everyday practice, our ability to practice and our ability to get reimbursed for the services we provide. I have always researched items, discussed, and made opinions based on my research and my practicing colleague’s opinions. I have been sought out for my opinion on issues and helped others who have dealt with regulatory and practice challenges. As a delegate, I have debated many issues on the AAPA House floor and contributed to formalizing AAPA policy through the HOD. As a leader I have listened to my constituents and sought feedback from others across the state to formalize opinions on hotly debated issues such as full practice authority and recertification. As the the HOD is evolving into a year-round House, I remain strong on my technology skills to be able to easily adapt to these changes.
I remain committed that our profession stay strong, grow and thrive. I would like an opportunity again to help contribute to this goal would appreciate your trust and vote for me as an NC delegate to the AAPA HOD.
It would be an honor to have the opportunity to represent NCAPA and my PA colleagues as an AAPA House of Delegates representative. It has been a joy to serve on the NCAPA Board of Directors for several years in various capacities and I have found our advocacy efforts especially inspiring. Participating in several PA Days at the Legislature, attending the AAPA Leadership Advocacy Summit in Washington, DC, and being a member of our Government Affairs Committee have been experiences that continue to drive my passion to advocate on behalf of our profession.
Being the birthplace of the PA Profession, many state constituent organizations turn to NC to help shape policy that drives our profession. Working alongside fellow NCAPA leaders to help be that voice would be such a privilege. Having worked as a PA program faculty member, in primary care medicine, and now in specialty private practice, I have been able to experience multiple realms in which PA policy impacts our roles and responsibilities. These experiences will allow me to identify how issues and policies that are brought forward will potentially impact a wide range of PA practice. It has been a pleasure to serve as NCAPA President this year and I hope to contribute to the future path of our profession as one of your HOD representatives in the coming years.
As an experienced and passionate advocate for PAs, I would be honored to represent North Carolina in the AAPA House of Delegates. As President of NCAPA in 2022, I was a champion for our Optimal Team Practice bill (SB 345, now HB 75), meeting with legislators and excitedly monitoring the bill as it passed unanimously through the North Carolina State House; I supported NCAPA’s DEI initiatives, including training sessions for our board; and I worked to negotiate a new 3-year contract to retain NCAPA’s CEO, who will continue to usher in an era of progress at the organization.
In 2020, I had the opportunity to serve as a Delegate when the House of Delegates was held virtually. While I appreciated the chance to participate, I am eager for the ability to dig into issues with other Delegates in-person, to explore opportunities to collaborate even more closely with PAs from other states, and to advance our profession nationwide.
Lastly, in the 11 years I have spent on NCAPA’s Government Affairs Committee, I have learned a great deal about how to advance policy changes that better support PAs and, ultimately, our patients.
As these experiences hopefully demonstrate, I am passionate about strengthening the PA profession, and I believe that serving in the House of Delegates would enable me to do just that. I would do my best to serve as a diligent and thoughtful representative of our Academy, and I therefore humbly ask for your vote. Thank you for your consideration.
I am thrilled and honored to be serving our Academy, the PAs of NC, and our patients as the Chair of the NCAPA Political Action Committee and a Past President of the Academy. In addition to my service on the Board for 7 consecutive years as a Director-at-Large, VP, and the 3-year Presidential term, I have served on various committees- Government Affairs, Finance, Student Affairs Chair, Education and Development Panel, Chair of Membership and Marketing, OTP Task Force, and appointed as Chair of the Stakeholders Workgroup towards PA modernization in NC. Currently I am serving as the Chair of the NCAPA Political Action Committee and am encouraged by the wide participation from our members as we seek to magnify our voice and advance our advocacy goals. I have also recently been appointed to the Conference Planning Committee and serve on PDRP.
On a national level, I have served as one of your state representatives to the AAPA House of Delegates for the past 10 years. I have also served on a Reference Committee within the House of Delegates for 4 years and look to continue this participation in 2023. I have aspirations to Chair a Reference Committee one day as I gain confidence and experience in this area. I am a Trustee on the AAPA PAC and one of only 27 Cornerstone Contributors who have given consecutively for 10 years.
Serving in the HOD, allows me to be keenly aware of current issues facing PAs and our profession. This experience has been extremely valuable to my development as a leader, an innovator, and a team player. I am a hard worker, reliable, and extremely disciplined. I also believe that the best work is done as a team when all members contribute to the process by optimizing their strengths. I would be thrilled to continue my service to North Carolina PAs by representing you in the AAPA House of Delegates. I appreciate your vote.
It has been a true honor to serve as a delegate for the NCAPA over the years—our chapter has had superb involvement in the House of Delegates, with many of our leaders learning from this experience and transferring skills into the management of the NCAPA itself.
I have had extensive experience in the House of Delegates, serving as a delegate, a House Officer, Speaker of the House, Parliamentarian, Reference Committee member, and chair. Perhaps my most enjoyable role, however, has been to serve as a House Mentor. I have enthusiastically dedicated myself to assisting the newer delegates and students in navigating the business of the profession’s policy-making activities, and I fully intend to continue to offer my time and energy in this same service to our colleagues while functioning in a delegate position.
The PA profession has been an ongoing adventure of changes since our birth over 50 years ago, and there are always new issues that require thoughtful and informed deliberation. I promise to consider all perspectives as our delegation participates in the House activities and makes decisions about the direction for our profession.
Thank you for your ongoing involvement and support, and for your desire to hold the delegates accountable for the well-established reputation that NCAPA has earned and maintained in the AAPA House of Delegates.
I desire to represent the NCAPA as a Delegate to 2023-2025 AAPA House of Delegates. I have been a Fellow member of the NCAPA and of the AAPA since graduation from Bowman Gray School of Medicine/Wake Forest University PA Program. I am the Optimal Team Practice Task Force Chair as well as an NCAPA Past President, Past Vice President, Regional Chapters Chair and Student NCAPA Board Representative. I am a member of the Government Affairs Committee and the Continuing Education Committee. I have served the NCAPA as a prior Chief Delegate as well as a Delegate to prior AAPA Houses. I am proud to be honored as a Distinguished Fellow of the AAPA. I enjoy being involved in the policy making process of the AAPA and would consider it a great honor to be involved in the next Delegation.
