The NCAPA Student Affairs Committee is excited to announce that we have funding opportunities available for our student members to attend the 2023 AAPA Leadership and Advocacy Summit, September 28-30 in Arlington, VA. We will be covering the registration fees for one student from each NC PA program. Applicants must be current NCAPA Student Members as well as enrolled in an ARC-accredited NC PA program. Interested applicants must complete the following brief application by August 1st for consideration and applicants will be notified of the committee’s decisions by August 17th.
The NCAPA Endowment also offers funding through the Lanny Parker Memorial Fund. The fund supports leadership and advocacy opportunities for PAs and PA students.
The Physician Assistant Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the AAPA, has a variety of scholarships available to students. Some specialty organizations affiliated with AAPA may also have funding available for students.
The FELS grant (Forgivable Education Loan), is a $20,000 grant paid over two years for various medical students including PA students. The applicant is required to work in North Carolina as a PA in any specialty for the number of years they received the loan.
The National Health Service Corps offers scholarships for PA students in accredited programs. The scholarship pays tuition, fees, other educational costs, and provides a living stipend in return for a commitment to work at least 2 years at an approved outpatient facility in a medically underserved community.
The Indian Health Service Scholarship Program provides scholarship support to qualified American Indian and Alaska Native students to pursue health profession careers since 1978. The program has grown to support, educate and place health care professionals within medically underserved Indian health programs throughout the continental United States and Alaska.
The NC Department of Health and Human Services has loan payment incentives available. The maximum for physician assistant is $60,000 for a 4-year commitment.
