Highlighting the Central Coastal Plains Association of PAs (CCPAPA)

November 6, 2023 by Pauline Bulala

NCAPA is dedicated to highlighting the work, dedication, and passion shown by PAs and members across the state, especially within our Regional Chapters. Each month starting in September 2023, we are highlighting one Regional Chapter, spotlight their goals and events, as well as highlight a specific member/members from that chapter.

This month, we are highlighting the Central Coastal Plains Association of PAs (CCPAPA) and wishing them a congratulations on celebrating their one-year anniversary as a Regional Chapter!

The CCPAPA President, Jennifer Holley, PA-C, recently spoke with the NCAPA on how the regional chapter was founded. PA Holley shared, “Our chapter was founded because of an NCAPA email that highlighted the gaps in the North Carolina where Regional Chapters were needed. It highlighted the “desert” that needed representation for practicing in these respective counties. I contacted fellow PA-C Drew McKnight and we were able to meet with NCAPA staff to start the process.”

PA Holley continued, “Drew recruited Robin Dawson to be the CCPAPA Secretary and I recruited Brooke Jones to be the Treasurer.  Drew and I agreed to serve as President and Vice President.  We had the foundation needed to start the chapter and began meeting in October of last year! We are also blessed with support from staff at Campbell University, including April Pope and Ashley Nordan, who have been active in our chapter as well. We have student delegates as well as two PA students for opportunities to serve in representative positions.”

The NCAPA also asked PA Holley to describe the recent activities that the Regional Chapter has been involved in. “Our Chapter supports Campbell University’s Make-a-Wish Golf Tournament and we have taken up donation supplies for several local charities,” said PA Holley. “We were also able to collaborate with local pharmacist, Freddy Adams, to donate supplies for the Native American Tribal Health Fair to screen for diabetes.”

“What makes our Regional Chapter special?” PA Holley shared, “Our chapter is special because it’s not just about eating a meal together – it’s about serving the area, networking with each other and giving back to the community. We also engage in supporting students who are interested in applying to PA school in the future.”
