Geoff Jones, PA student from Wake Forest School of Medicine, is the 2019 recipient of the Thomas Benjamin Houck NCAPA Endowment Student Grant. Geoff was a self-described “non-traditional” undergraduate student who developed a love of learning and a dedication to science and medicine as he completed, Summa Cum Laude, his BS degree in Biology from UNC-Asheville. His outreach work has largely been dedicated to people suffering from addiction and he has been active in helping others through recovery efforts.
As a PA student, Geoff joined several classmates and initiated the Wake Forest PA Ultrasound Interest Group, an organization that expanded into planning and running activities for all learners. In the first year of PA school, Mr. Jones served as the student society representative to the Assembly of Representatives of the AAPA Student Academy and was nominated for and joined the Wake Forest Emerging Clinician Leaders program, which eventually resulted in his being invited to participate in the state-wide student leadership program hosted by the NC Medical Society. Not surprisingly, Geoff intends to stay in NC to work as a PA—we expect his patients, his community and the PA profession here to all benefit from his leadership and dedication to service.
