Board of Directors Call for Interest

The North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants has been the primary guardian of our profession at the local and state level and a key supporter at the national level. The PAs that comprise our leadership emerge from our general membership—you. The Nominating Committee is working to identify members who wish to serve the Academy through the Board of Directors and the Nominating Committee.

  • Interest forms must be received by August 1, 2025.
  • Members can also self-nominate by contacting Emily Adams, NCAPA CEO at emily.adams@ncapa.org
  • Candidates for President-Elect and Treasurer must have been a Fellow member of the NCAPA for the calendar year prior to the election.
  • Candidates for Director-at-Large and Nominating Committee member must have been a Fellow or Associate member of NCAPA for the calendar year prior to election. 
  • All terms begin on January 1, 2026.

Open Positions (click each position for a full description of the role)

President-Elect

This is a three-year commitment to serve on the Board of Directors: one year as President-Elect, one as President, and one as Immediate Past President. As President-Elect, you are responsible for the appointment of chairpersons of standing and ad hoc committees, subject to the approval of the Board, and preparing to serve as President. Responsibilities during your year as President include: presiding at all business meetings of the Academy and the Board of Directors, signing appropriate legal papers of the Academy, and serving as liaison to the NCAPA Central Office.

Treasurer

This is a two-year commitment to serve on the Board of Directors. The Treasurer will serve as a member of the Board of Directors and will oversee the management of all assets and liabilities of the Academy. The Treasurer must be a member of the Finance Committee.

Director-at-Large (3 Open Positions)

This is a two-year commitment to serve on the Board of Directors. A Director is a voting member of the Board of Directors. Business affairs of the Academy are managed by the BOD or committees established by the Board and corporate powers are exercised by and under the authority of the BOD.

At-Large Nominating Committee Members (2 Open Positions)

This is a two-year commitment to serve on the Nominating Committee. The Nominating Committee is responsible for providing a slate of qualified nominees to run for election in the appropriate Academy leadership positions each year.
